The unlockable weapon gives you an excuse to pick up Dead Space if you haven’t already. It’s suggested retail price is $19.99 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PCs these days. You can pick it up numerous places for even cheaper than that. The game chronicles the adventures of engineer Issac Clarke, who battles the alien Necromorphs. They are nasty creatures who keep coming at you, even after decapitation. To stop a Necromorph, you need to dismember it.
Despite so-so sales for the franchise so far, EA has shown a commitment to the survival horror franchise. It followed up the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions with Wii-exclusive Dead Space:Extraction. That one again got good reviews, but not great sales. EA is still hammering away. EA has been actively working to turn its game properties into movies. Dead Space is already an animated film. Perhaps EA has bigger plans for the Dead Space universe. Dead Space 2 is slated for a January 25, 2011 release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
