The 3DS is revving up for its Japan release that will happen over a month from now. Nintendo is holding a Nintendo World event in Japan where brand new details about the 3DS are being revealed. A lot of the details such as system specs and price were announced long ago, but now we know for a fact which games will accompany the handheld on its February 26, 2011 launch date.
These games and their prices are only for Japan. Nintendo will most likely announce the North American 3DS price and launch titles on January 19 during a 3DS press conference in New York. Not all of these games are priced the same. The most expensive games such as Ridge Racer 3D and Samurai Warriors: Chronicles cost 6,090 yen, or roughly $73. The cheapest games are 4,800 yen or about $58.
This does not mean 3DS games will be priced the same as console games in the US. Currency conversions aren’t always done literally or according to Google.
It’s almost hard to believe that the only first party game on this list is nintendogs + cats. Mario and his friends are nowhere to be seen. Nintendo did say it wanted more third-party support with the 3DS after all.
Here are the eight Nintendo 3DS Japanese launch titles.
- nintendogs + cats
- Winning Eleven Soccer 3D
- Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
- Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
- Puzzle Bobble 3D
- Ridge Racer 3D
- Battle of the Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
- Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
