Refer a friend to Xbox Live Gold and win prizes

Microsoft has started another program that awards participants for using Xbox Live Gold. You may remember the Xbox Live Rewards program that gives away Reward Points for engaging in normal Xbox Live activities. The Xbox Live Refer-a-Friend program is sort of similar to that, but awards persuasion over passive actions. Simply put, Microsoft will give you one of four prizes for referring a friend to Xbox Live Gold. This program will run until June 30, 2011 and is only open to residents of the United States.

Here’s how it works. Once you log-in the the refer-a-friend portion of the Xbox website, you’ll have the opportunity to send upgrade referrals to up to five friends. Those friends need to have a Xbox Live Free membership in order to be eligible for any of the prizes. Assuming they adhere to your requests and buy a Gold subscription, you and your friend will get one of four prizes.

Descriptions of the prizes are below.

• Get your free member friend to go Gold and you’ll get 400 Microsoft Points and your friend will get 400 Microsoft Points. Tokens to download Points will expire on December 31, 2011. Once downloaded, promotional Points will expire on June 30, 2012
• Get your free member friend to go Gold and you’ll get multiplayer arcade game and your friend will get multiplayer arcade game of Sponsor’s choosing
• Get your free member friend to go Gold and you’ll get 600 Microsoft Points and your friend will get 600 Microsoft Points. Tokens to download Points will expire on December 31, 2011. Once downloaded, promotional Points will expire on June 30, 2012
• Get your free member friend to try Gold with a promotional token good for 1 month of Gold! BONUS: If your friend redeems the token within 30 days, you will get 200 Microsoft Points. Tokens to download Points will expire on December 31, 2011. Once downloaded, promotional Points will expire on June 30, 2012.

You can’t pick which offer you’ll receive. Microsoft will change each offer every month (or whenever it chooses). Also, you can only get each offer once. Don’t try to cheat the system because Microsoft will find out, and you’ll be disqualified. Keep it honest.
