If you’re going to buy Portal 2, then buy it for the PS3. Well, if you own a PS3, then buy the version for that system. If you do, then you get an extra version of Portal 2 for your computer! Valve is doing it to promote PS3 Steamworks’ support for the game, since Portal 2 is the first one to actually offer it.
See, the PS3 version of Portal 2 won’t just allow gamers to play with other people who happened to also own the PS3 version. They’ll be able to play with and talk to Windows and Mac owners who also have Portal 2. When you pop Portal 2 into your PS3 for the first time and log into Steam, you’ll automatically get a copy of both the Windows and Mac versions of the game to thank you for connecting your PlayStation Network and Steam accounts. When you check your friends list in-game, you’ll see all of your PSN and Steam friends who are online and ready to play with you.
Portal 2 is going to be released on April 19, 2011 on the PS3, Xbox 360, Windows and Mac. The console versions will be $59.99 each, and the PC versions $49.99. Odds are, everyone’s going to be going for the PS3 version now. Chell is once again the star, and is trying to make it through trying challenges using the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device while being goaded and tested by GLaDOS. It introduces co-operative multiplayer to the series.
