Surely you didn’t think Epic Games and Microsoft would just walk away from the Gears of War franchise following the conclusion of the trilogy? GoW is a huge money making series for the two companies. While we wait for Gears 3, Epic is thinking ahead by filing a new trademark for something called Gears of War: Exile.
The goods and services section in the patent, which can be found on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website, lists Gears of War: Exile as “video game software.” The trademark was filed on January 11, 2011.
Along with a trademark for the name, Epic also placed the following picture in the trademark filing.
Microsoft told IGN it has “no news to share at this time” in regards to Gears of War: Exile. It’s being speculated that Gears of War: Exile could be the Gears announcement that was supposed to happen last year at the Spike Video Game Awards.
In other Gears news, Epic and Microsoft announced the Gears of War Triple Pack will be released on February 15, 2011. It contains Gears of War, Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection.
