Yakuza has slowly built up an audience in North America. Yakuza 4 will be released next month for PS3, but has already been available in Japan for nearly a year. While we’re playing through that game, Japan will be experiencing a totally different Yakuza game. Yakuza of the End is going to be filled with zombies. There will be four main characters to choose from, but they can be accompanied by other characters that are met throughout the game.
According to Andriasang, Yakuza of the End has a partner system in place. You can make partners out of certain people you run into such as a hostess or characters from previous Yakuza games. Completing sub stories will enable those characters to assist you. Partner characters can be used in conjunction with any of the four main characters. In other words, once you unlock a partner character, they’ll help everyone.
Yakuza of the End also has a mode where you will face off against hordes of zombies in a dungeon called Kamurocho Underground. The dungeon can be entered from a manhole that appears at random. Once you defeat enough zombies underground, a boss will appear. Defeat him, and you’ll get special items and experience. Kamurocho Underground doesn’t sound like it progresses the story of Yakuza to the End. It serves as a way to distract you from completing the game so soon.
Gary’s Boot Camp is another set of mini-games in Yakuza to the End. It’s here where you’ll practice your gun skills against zombies in a shooting range, or you can simply run around killing zombies at will.
I don’t think North America is sick of zombies yet. Sega, do us a favor and localize this one for us.
