The uDraw GameTablet has in no way been forgotten by THQ. The publisher will be releasing SpongeBob SquigglePants for uDraw for $29.99 on April 12, 2011. SpongeBob SquigglePants will also make a leap onto the 3DS sometime this spring. These two games are among the first SpongeBob games announced following THQs multi-year deal agreement to exclusively produce SpongeBob games.
SpongeBob SquigglePants may be a Wii game, but it can only be used with uDraw. The game is basically a collection of over 100 mini-games which have been cleverly referred to as “nanogames.” The speed of the nanogames gets faster as the game goes on. Is this starting to sound familiar? If you’re thinking of WarioWare in any way, you’d be right on the money. SpongeBob SquigglePants may not be an original concept, but I’ve never played a WarioWare game I didn’t like.
We’ll also see some new characters that have been plucked from Nickelodeon’s secret vault. Among the new characters are Comic Book Bob, Punk Rock Bob and Pixel Bob. No word on if Doodle Bob will make an appearance, but it doesn’t make sense for him to not show up.
The frantic nanogames can be a brutal assault on the senses. Whenever you don’t feel like thinking so fast, you’ll have the option to draw whatever you like on the uDraw Gametablet. You can print out the drawings if you want, but be aware that a big uDraw watermark will plaster itself all over your art.
