Roxio Game Capture PC Console software devicePrepare to say goodbye to unprofessional “Let’s Play” Youtube videos where an ordinary gamer tries to chronicle his or her playthrough of a game, while also trying to manage the digital camera or recorder. Roxio is preparing to release a new device and program that will allow you to capture your best moments without worrying about brightness, fitting the entire picture on screen and sound. Yes, the Roxio Game Capture and Roxio PC Game Capture should make life a little easier for everyone – especially people who rely on video walkthroughs to help them through particularly tricky portions of games.

Such power comes at a price though. The PS3 and Xbox 360 compatible Roxio Game Capture device will cost you $99.99 on March 24, 2011. For that price, you get hardware and software though, so I suppose you could see it being worth it. You still play your games on your TV, but the capture device that comes with it lets you record it to your Windows PC while you play. You can take AVI, DivX, MP4 or WMV videos or BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG or TIFF screenshots of what you’re seeing. Then, once it’s all recorded, you can edit what you’ve recorded with the included editor, making it look professional and adding your voice-overs. Once you’re done, you can upload your playthrough videos to sites like Facebook and Youtube with the program.

The Roxio PC Game Capture is slightly more affordable at $49.99, but that’s because it’s only Windows software. There’s no additional device needed to record the games. It does the exact same thing mentioned above, only there’s no capture device to fiddle with. You just install the program, start it up and start playing your game. The only catch is that it will only work with games that support DirectX 8-10 and OpenGL.

Finally, there’s a contest going on at Roxio’s Facebook page. You have to add the Roxio Sweepstakes App to participate, but it could be worth it. If you’re in the US and over 18, you can try to win an HP Envy 14 laptop with Roxio Game Capture, a HP Pavillion Dv6tse laptop with Roxio Game Capture or a single copy of Roxio Game Capture. Each week, two people will get copies of the Roxio Game Capture software, but only two people get laptops. The contest started today, March 15, 2011, and it ends at midnight tomorrow, March 16, 2011.
