The question that has been on our minds all week has finally been answered. SCEA director of product marketing Anthony Crouts has confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that MotorStorm Apocalypse has been delayed in North America. This comes days after the game was delayed in Japan and the UK. The North American demo for MotorStorm Apocalypse was also delayed on the same day the European demo was removed from the PlayStation Store.
The PlayStation Blog post was short and to the point.
Similar to news already issued from our Japanese and European territories, SCEA can confirm that we are officially delaying release of MotorStorm Apocalypse from its scheduled April 12th date. We will provide more information regarding release timing at a later date.
Though we don’t know when the game will be released, Sony hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a future release. We’ll have to see if retailers such as GameStop will cancel pre-orders.
Sony is delaying the MotorStorm Apocalypse due to the similarities the game shares with the recent natural disasters in Japan. MotorStorm Apocalypse features citizens running in the streets as the city around them is ravaged by destructive forces.
