DeathSpank had two games that were released very close to each other last year. DeathSpank and DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue were released on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam for $15. It starred the overly masculine, orphan rescuing hero known as DeathSpank as he mowed down enemies while collecting loot and making wise cracks. This summer, DeathSpank will return in a new downloadable game called The Baconing.
The Baconing, while a sequel to DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, curiously doesn’t mention DeathSpank in the title. You’ll still play as DeathSpank as he searches for something called the Fires of Bacon. The Baconing will have a post-apocalyptic setting, but promises to still have the same humor that previous DeathSpank games are known for.
Hothead makes mention of four new bosses and new locations such as The Forbidden Zone, Barnacle Lake and The Forest of Tomorrow in a press release given early to Kotaku. DeathSpank also has new sidekick (sorry Sparkles) named Bob from Marketing. We expect The Baconing to break the fourth wall numerous times through Bob from Marketing’s dialogue.
As with any sequel, things have to be bigger and better. Hothead says there will be over 80 brand new weapons, over a hundred quests and dozens of new characters.
Hothead hasn’t provided any media for the game other than a teaser trailer with a somewhat humorous message. You can find it below.
