Square Enix has released a rather robust E3 2011 trailer for FFXIII-2. There’s footage from the animated story scenes, world exploration and battles. The focus is on Serah, though Noel also plays a very large part. Oh, and a moogle shows up as well! Watch for yourself. You can even see Noel and Serah fight, with some monsters like a Feral Behemoth and Pulseworker jumping in to assist.
Wait, did Lebreau say at the end there that Lightning is dead? She looked really good for a dead chick.
I’m also guessing that Noel is a Pulse native and some kind of beastmaster. It’d explain why his clothes look similar to Fang and Vanille’s. Plus, it’d account for why monsters from Final Fantasy XIII are showing up to help him and Serah in battles.
So far, Lightning, Serah and the members of NORA are the only Final Fantasy XIII characters that seem to be making a reappearance. I’m sure we’ll see the others eventually though. Especially Snow, since he is the leader of NORA and Serah’s fiance.
Square Enix has also launched a Final Fantasy XIII-2 website, but there isn’t much there yet. You can just see the first announcement trailer, that new E3 2011 trailer, the logo and a picture of Noel.
Right now, I’m torn. The E3 2011 trailer makes Final Fantasy XIII-2 look a lot like Final Fantasy XIII, which I hated because it was just so linear, with little room for interaction and exploration. Yet, I did enjoy the story and it looks beautiful. Is anyone else feeling conflicted? I want to get excited about FFXIII-2, but I keep worrying it will be FFXIII all over again.
