Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1

Sonic the Hedgehog is 20 years old now. For exactly two decades, gamers have been able to enjoy the adventures of this high speed hedgehog, and Sega wants them to keep it up. To make it easier to do that and celebrate this momentous anniversary, Sega has decided to discount a bunch of downloadable Sonic games. If you own a PS3 or Xbox 360, you could pick up a great deal.

The Xbox 360 games are discounted separately. So you can just grab one, two or even all six if you’d like. Here’s what you can get and how much you’ll have to pay.

  • Sonic Adventure – 400 Microsoft Points ($5)
  • Sonic & Knuckles – 120 Microsoft Points ($1.50)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog – 240 Microsoft Points ($3)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – 240 Microsoft Points ($3)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 3 – 240 Microsoft Points ($3)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1 – 800 Microsoft Points ($10)
  • The PS3 PlayStation Store deals don’t offer as much freedom. Instead of being able to select single games, you have to purchase five Sonic titles in a bundle You get Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure DX DLC and Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1. Separately or when they’re not on sale, those games would cost $39.95 all together. If you get them in this 20th Anniversary bundle, it’s $19.99 for the lot.

Finally, there’s a bundle of Windows PC games on sale at the Sega Online Store. This is similar to the PlayStation Store deal in that they’re a bundle. For $14.97, you get Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. Normally, they would cost $29.94 separately.

These are limited time deals. Sega didn’t say how long the console download deals will be up. The Sega Online Store bundle will be available until June 30, 2011.
