Borderlands 2 out in 2012, appearing at GamesCom and Pax Prime

The rumors are real! Gearbox Software has been working on Borderlands 2 a followup to the surprisingly successful Borderlands. I guess that helps explain why the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition was a $14.99 download on the PlayStation Store the week of July 18, 2011. The follow up will be a multiplatform game as well, available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC and should be available after April 1, 2012, since Take-Two wants to release it in the 2013 fiscal year.

While Take-Two and Gearbox Software have revealed that Borderlands 2 is in the works, nothing definite has been revealed yet about the sequel other than it will have lots of new characters, equipment, abilities, opponents and areas of Pandora to explore. The reason for that is due to Game Informer getting the honor of first reveal. The September 2011 issue of the magazine, with the cover at the right, is the one to look for in stores if you need a Borderlands 2 fix.

There will be two recent opportunities to start seeing Borderlands 2. The first look will happen during GamesCom 2011 from August 17-21, 2011. The second will happen during Pax Prime 2011 from August 26-28, 2011. If you miss seeing it at either of those two events, then you’ll have to wait until Gearbox announces another convention appearance.
