Despite all of its shortcomings, the Android platform is still the best when it comes to customizing the device to your liking. One of the latest Android hacks allows either a Sixaxis or DualShock 3 controller to pair with the device. Before trying your hand at this hack, you need to have a rooted Android device.
Rooting an Android device is something a lot of owners do. However, doing so could cause the device to become an expensive brick. As usual, don’t root an Android advice unless you’re absolutely sure you know what you’re doing.
In order to get the Sixaxis Controller ($1.67 from the Android Market) to work, you need to make sure your device is compatible with the app. Dancing Pixel Studios, the developer of the app, says most HTC devices and more recent Samsung devices won’t work with the Sixaxis Controller app.
After following the instructions Dancing Pixel Studios has laid out, you should be able to pair your PS3 controller with your Android device. Up to four controllers can be enabled at one time. Their buttons are also customizable.
Here’s a video of the hack in action.
