In true Microsoft tradition, the company has started accepting registrations from those who are interested in getting the Xbox 360 dashboard update early. The process is almost the same as before. You have to go to the Microsoft Connect website and submit some general information such as your name and Gamertag. What’s different this time around is you don’t have to input the serial number of your Xbox 360 when signing up. Microsoft will ask for that information if you get accepted into the preview.
The fall preview program will include the new Metro design that Microsoft has been falling in love with lately. It’ll also contain Beacons, cloud storage for saves and your Xbox Live profile, Facebook sharing and new Kinect interactivity.
Microsoft may add apps from its newly announced video partners during the preview program.
Microsoft also ensures us that consoles running the preview program will still be able to perform all the same functions as Xbox 360s that aren’t a part of the program.
Expect the preview program to start in a couple weeks.
