GTA 3 Anniversary We’re not sure if you noticed, but Grand Theft Auto 3 is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month (October 22, 2011). There is absolutely no denying how GTA 3 influenced many games to branch out into an open-world setting. GTA 3 is also responsible for the widespread use of the car-jacking mechanic, and the never-ending debate on video game violence as it relates to children. To commemorate crossing the 10-year mark, Rockstar will be re-releasing GTA 3 this fall for iOS and select Android smartphones and tablets. Rockstar is also taking pre-orders for a 1:6 scale action figure of GTA 3‘s Claude.

A price for GTA 3 hasn’t been set just yet. It will however be playable at New York Comic Con.

Unfortunately, only the latest iOS devices (iPad 2, iPhone 4S) will support GTA 3 at launch. The Android smartphone and tablet selection is also pretty scarce.

Here is a list of support Android devices.

  • Acer Iconia Tab
  • Asus Eee Pad Transformer
  • Motorola Xoom
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

  • Motorola Droid X2
  • HTC EVO 2 (not announced… yet)
  • LG Optimus 2X
  • Motorola Atrix
  • Samsung Galaxy S II

The action figure will cost $149.99. It includes Claude, a bunch of toy weapons (mostly guns) and his Liberty City Prison jumpsuit.
