We all know the Slide Pad is going to be released worldwide. It’s a 3DS peripheral actually made by Nintendo. It’s just going to happen. The question now is pretty much when. It seems like that’s a little bit clearer, thanks to some investigation done by Siliconera. Nintendo’s been calling the device the Slide Pad in Japan, but the newest trademark filed called it the Circle Pad Pro.
The Circle Pad Pro seems like quite a plausible name for the add-on. I mean, it does add a second circle pad analog stick to the 3DS. So odds are, this is what we’ll be shopping for sometime next year. Yes, next year. Capcom’s spoken about this Circle Pad Pro/Slide Pad, saying that Resident Evil: Revelations will use it. That game comes out February 7, 2012 and Capcom confirmed at the 2011 New York Comic Con that the circle pad add-on will be out at the same time.
So far, there haven’t been a ton of detailed, hands on reports or previews concerning the Slide Pad. That’s mainly because the Slide Pad hasn’t even been released yet. I’m sure we’ll start hearing how good/bad it is after it’s official Japanese launch on December 10, 2011.
So, are we yay or nay on the Circle Pad Pro? I say nay, mainly because I no longer use the stock 3DS battery and you can’t use the Circle Pad Pro with a third party battery. Well, at least not the third party battery I’m using. I also say nay because I think it looks ridiculous and bulky. What do you think? If you’re pro-Circle Pad Pro, make sure you have plenty of extra, AAA batteries with you when you play!
