Activision is holding a conference call today to report its third quarter 2011 earnings. Before the call takes place, Activision Blizzard sent out a press release detailing how well it did in the quarter. The company reported revenues of $754 million, which is $9 million more than what it earned in the third quarter of 2010. The majority of Activision Blizzard’s earnings ($427 million) came from digital purchases. More than half of the company’s revenues came from digital channels.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released today, and Activision expects the game to sell exceptionally well. In anticipation of MW3 and Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures sales, Activision expects to earn even more money for the year than it previously expected.

In 2012, Blizzard is going to release at least two new games. One of those games will be Diablo III. Activision will also release a new Call of Duty game just like it has done in years prior.

We’ll be listening to the conference call for any new bits of information.
