PS3 owners have another exclusive to look forward to in 2012! It turns out NIS America will not be letting us down and will release the third and final Atelier game in the Arland trilogy. Atelier Meruru: Apprentice of Arland will be appearing in both North America and Europe sometime in the first half of 2012.
Like the previous two Atelier PS3 games, Atelier Meruru stars a brand new alchemist. Meruru is the princess of Arls, a kingdom that may join the Arland Republic. During talks about the joining of the two regions, she ends up meeting Totori, who is now a full Arland alchemist. Meruru’s fascinated with the idea, and how it could help make things better for her people, and becomes a student under her. Since Meruru is a princess and alchemist, she ends up taking on tasks to make items and make Arls a better place to live. So like Atelier Totori, Atelier Meruru expands on the series and makes both traveling and building important game aspects as well.
Atelier Meruru will also have plenty of returning characters from Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori. Rorona, Totori, Sterk, Gio, Filly, Mimi, Gino and Pamela all make confirmed appearances. Also, the Homs will once again return, but they’ll look like real grown-up people again, instead of their cute miniature selves from Atelier Totori.
I’m really excited. Atelier Meruru was well reviewed in Japan and is said to be even better than Atelier Totori, which vastly improved on Atelier Rorona. Besides, it’s always great to see a new niche game announcement.
