Rovio sells you on nuts and Google Chrome in new Angry Birds game

Hunt for Golden Pistachio If you watch television on a semi-regular basis, you’ve probably seen a couple Angry Birds commercials that promote both Google Chrome and Wonderful Pistachios. The Angry Birds Chrome commercial speaks highly of the browser’s WebGL technology, which essentially brings accelerated 3D graphics to the browser by using a computer’s current hardware. The promotion with Wonderful Pistachios is less obvious. Is it because birds like nuts? Regardless of the reason, there is currently a new Angry Birds game available only in the Chrome web browser called The Hunt for the Golden Pistachio.

This isn’t a full fledged Angry Birds game like the ones you’d find on mobile devices. It’s really more of a promotional tool for Google Chrome and Wonderful Pistachios. The object of the game is to find and crack open the Golden Pistachio to win prizes. You can only pay the level five times by default, so you’ll have to jump through some hoops to play again.

Purchasing a bag of Wonderful Pistachios will earn you a “Get Crackin” code for 15 more chances to win. You can also get more chances to play by inviting Facebook friends or uploading your score to Twitter.

The game plays just as you’d expect it to. It’s nothing special, but if you love everything Angry Birds, it doesn’t hurt to give it a shot.
