Nintendo wasn’t kidding when it said it would make sure 3DS Ambassadors would get their GBA games before 2011 ends. Announcements are coming from both Japan and Europe today stating that both regions will be receiving their free downloads very soon. As in, Friday, December 16, 2011 soon. Yes, within days people with 3DS units from those regions will have access to free games, and they’re actually really good ones!
There are the games!
- F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
- Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
- Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
- Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong
- Metroid Fusion
- Super Mario Advance 3
- Wario Land 4
- WarioWare Inc
They’ll be available as exclusive eShop downloads for rightful recipients. I, for one, am pleased to see Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on that list. I had that game years ago and loved it. I beat it once, but always wanted to replay it and develop different social links to see what other characters had to say to one another. Because that’s an extra feature in that strategic RPG – you can have characters build relationships if they stand near one another in battle.
Nintendo of America still has yet to announce when North Americans will be receiving their free GBA game downloads. Hopefully, it will be soon. If it’s any consolation, at least we know what we’ll be getting. I mean, if Japan and Europe are both getting those games, then we have to be getting them as well.
If you’re unsure as to whether or not you’re entitled to these free games… then you’re probably not. Those of us who paid the launch price for the 3DS ($249.99!) still keep that bitter memory in our hearts, even despite Nintendo’s sweet, sweet bribe of downloadable NES and GBA games. Seriously though – 3DS Ambassadors are the people who bought the system before it dropped to $169.99 in August, 2011.
