EA has two games coming out very soon. One is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, an open-world, action RPG that’s an all new, original property. The other is Mass Effect 3, the final installment of a beloved trilogy. What to do. What to do. Oh, here’s an idea, put together a cross promotion involving the downloadable demos for both games! And that’s just what EA has done.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning comes out first on February 7, 2012, and will have a demo appearing on January 17, 2012. If people play it, they get the Todd McFarlane designed Chakram Launcher and Reckoner Knight Armor for Commander Shepard. Both are designed to have a KoA feel. You get the armor just for trying the demo and the weapon for beating it. You’ll also earn a Infernal Helm, Twinned Souls Chakram and Twist of Fate Card that you can use in the full version of KoA.
The Mass Effect 3 demo doesn’t have a release date yet, but the full game will be out March 6, 2012. If you download that demo, then you get goodies for Kingdoms of Amalur specifically, a N7 Armor set and Omniblade Daggers. It seems players won’t have to actually complete the ME3 demo to get these items, as the descriptions make it sound like all you have to do is download and test the demo.
So, does this make a difference to you? I was just planning on getting the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo if it wasn’t too big because I was curious how it will look and play. The idea that I’ll earn something for ME3 is just a nice little extra.
