Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 is considered to be vastly superior to the original game. For starters, the battle system has been revamped and refined, making it smoother and easier. Not to mention you can actually choose when and who will use potions and items in battle, instead of setting percentages in the menu and hoping a character will automatically heal when health is low. It also has a whole new set of characters, a Lily Rank system to unlock extra endings more characters and a Chirper system that’s supposed to provide information in a way similar to Twitter.
If you want to get technical, Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 is a sequel, but at the same time is a stand-alone game. It’s set in an alternate universe. Game Industri, made up of the landmasses Planeptune, Leanbox, Lowee and Lastation, and its Console Patron Unit goddesses are in trouble as Arfoire has developed and activated HDD powers, creating an Industry Graveyard. The four goddesses end up falling in a battle with Arfoire, resulting in their little sisters Nepgear (Game Gear), Uni (PSP), Ram (DS) and Rom (DS) having to step up to save their world.
So yeah, you may want to save up $49.99 if you’re interested in grabbing the game the moment it’s released. If you’re willing to pay a little more, the NIS America Online Store is selling a Gamindustri Savior Set for $64.99 that includes a game, soundtrack, artbook and deck of playing cards.
