This week’s three additions brings the total count to 93 games available for download through Nintendo’s Wii Shop Channel and playable only on the Wii. New games go live each Monday at 9 a.m. (Pacific Time).
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest (SNES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): This platformer sequel to Donkey Kong Country features Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong jumping through a haunted forest, swamps, ginormous beehive and lava-filled caves. Look for bonus stages, a hidden World and morphing into new animals. Yay for bananas!
Streets of Rage 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Blaze and Adam, who previously defeated The Syndicate in Streets of Rage, are on a quest to save their buddy Skate from nasty Mr. X. This side-scrolling beat-’em-up game sold well in Japan as Bare Knuckle II.
Blazing Lazers (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): A vertical-scrolling shooter, you pilot the Gunhed Star Fighter to defeat on the Dark Squadron before it invades Earth. Collect power ups and defeat level bosses while enjoying the thumping soundtrack. This game was developed by Hudson Soft and based on the movie Gunhed.
