I know, I know. Sony is getting carried away with PS3 firmware updates. What else is new? At least this time around, PS3 firmware version 4.11 isn’t mandatory. You’ll see the prompt to download the update by manually going to the “system update” option from the XMB.
This update is only available in the United States and Canada. Sony is very vague on what this update does. All we know is that it “improves certain aspects of system software.” Considering the PlayStation Vita is now publicly available in North America, we wouldn’t be surprised if this update helps the PS3 and Vita interact with each other more easily.
Once again, this update is totally optional.
