The Simpsons has branched out into many types of media in its existence. The videogame industry is very familiar territory for The Simpsons. Its characters have tackled many genres including skateboarding, wrestling, driving and action. The one place we have yet to see The Simpsons is within the freemium space. That’s all going to change when EA releases The Simpsons: Tapped Out for iOS in a few weeks.
According to CNET, The Simpsons: Tapped Out will be one of those “build the city” freemium games. Homer has apparently caused a nuclear disaster in Springfield. He has to gain the help of his family and other Simpsons characters to rebuild Springfield as the player sees fit.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out can technically be played without paying, but the progress will be very slow. You’ll have to purchase doughnuts as currency to build things faster.
EA will also bring The Simpsons: Tapped Out to Android. It’ll be a few months before that happens though.
