The Nintendo Direct conference held today announced a mysterious new 3DS game in Japan with some serious backers behind it. Capcom, Namco Bandai, Sega and Banpresto are in cahoots. Capcom, Namco Bandai and Sega are developing an unknown 3DS game and it looks like Banpresto’s involved as well, though its involvement wasn’t mentioned at the Nintendo Direct conference. You can see it’s name attached to the mystery 3DS project if you visit the game’s website.

Yes, it does already have a website. Don’t expect to see any hints there. The title just reminds people this is a crossover project that Capcom, Namco Bandai and Sega are working on. Heading there brings up a vault image with a door that can’t be opened and the company’s logos, shown above. You then are just teased with the notion that you’re there and have no idea why.

This may sound crazy, but I’m going to guess this is an original project and not some glorious mashup of some sort. Some kind of fighting game would seem natural if it was just Capcom and Namco Bandai teaming up, but throwing Sega in makes that a little more unlikely. I’m guessing it’ll be some kind of action game. An open world adventure could be a possibility too.

No word if the mystery 3DS game will be released outside of Japan. I’d hope so, since all three developers have a strong presence worldwide. We don’t know when it will be released.
