WB Games has announced an upcoming game featuring the heroes of Cartoon Network show Young Justice. Young Justice: Legacy is an action RPG from Little Orbit, the developer responsible for the Sherlock Holmes Mysteries and Busy Scissors.
The TV show focuses on crimefighters a little less battle tested than their counterparts, such as Superboy, Kid Flash and Robin. Please, don’t call them sidekicks. They’re undergoing the growing pains that come with their huge responsibilities and the giant shadows of their mentors.
After undertaking a dangerous mission without permission from the Justice League and succeeding, the team is allowed to stay together. Batman, master of all things dark and sneaky, decides Young Justice should handle covert ops. The celebrity status of Justice League members makes it difficult for them to do things in secret, so this turns out to be a perfect assignment for the youngsters.
The game’s story takes place in between the first two seasons of the TV show. Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, the show’s writers, are collaborating on the story. Players will get to use 12 DC heroes in single player, online and local multiplayer. The tagline for the game reads, “One will rise. One will fall. One will die.”
It’s currently slated for an early 2013 release for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS.
Young Justice has been a success for Cartoon Network, so let’s hope the video game lives up to those standards.
