Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut isn’t the only free DLC on the horizon. BioWare’s decided to make the first multiplayer DLC pack a freebie too. No matter which platform you’re playing on, you’ll get Mass Effect 3: Resurgence for free on April 10, 2012. It’s a pretty hefty package, so I think you’ll find it’s worth downloading.

The Resurgence pack includes four different kinds of content. The biggest addition are six new characters. People will be able to create Asari Justicar Adepts, Batarian Sentinels, Batarian Soldiers, Geth Engineers, Geth Infiltrators and Krogan Battlemaster Vanguards. All six characters will have new skills and abilities to master. You’ll get to equip them with the new Geth Plasma SMG, Kishock Harpoon Gun or Striker Assault Rifle. Also, the Firebase Condor and Firebase Hydra maps will be open to explore and there will be some new consumable items to use.

You may want to spend this weekend preparing. Earning some extra credits for unlocking purposes once Resurgence is available. Operation: Beachhead starts today for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows, which means everyone gets 25% extra experience on missions.

I have a sneaking feeling that BioWare made Resurgence free after all those complaints. This much content seems like the kind of thing a company would charge for.
