Gaikai has finally come to the world’s largest social network. A beta app for the cloud gaming service was released on Facebook today and is probably the biggest partnership Gaikai has made to date. Through this app, gamers will be able to play demos of popular games instantly. All you’ll need is a decent broadband internet connection and live within Gaikai’s coverage area in the U.S. or Europe.
After downloading the app, you’ll be able to play the following games (Note: All of these games are playable in the U.S.):
Saint’s Row: The Third
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
Magicka (U.S. and Europe)
Sniper: Ghost Warrior (US and Europe)
The Witcher 2 – Assassins of Kings (USA & Europe)
Orcs Must Die! (USA & Europe)
Farming Simulator 2011 (USA & Europe)
Gaikai is giving publishers access to a lot of extra potential customers now that it’s available on Facebook. The idea is to give customers a quick taste of a game in the hopes that they’ll purchase it right after the demo is done. Since the games all stream instantaneously, the chances of getting an impulse buy increases.
I’ve always found Gaikai to work a little better than OnLive. Give it a try to see how it works for you.
