It’s been a while since we have heard from old Spike from the Buffy series. Dark Horse comics seems to agree because the company announced at C2E2 2012 that they are working on a new comic miniseries based off the popular blonde vampire.

Spike, who is tired of dealing with all his problems on Earth (mainly concerning Buffy), decides to leave Earth and travels to Terra Firma on his bug ship. Along his way he runs into some demons who are taking advantage of the absence of magic on Earth by collecting the shards of the magic “seed” that had been destroyed.

The comic miniseries is being written by Victor Gischler who wrote X-Men, and Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth and drawn by Paul Lee of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Devil’s Footprints fame. Fans will be happy to know that the artwork of Spike looks identical to James Marsters (the actor who plays Spike.)

Spike#1 will come out August 22, 2012. The price has not yet been announced.
