Gamertell J-List J-Box game figure From our favorite Japanese import site, J-List/J-Box, comes a PVC figure based on the Shining Tears PS2 bishojo RPG. This 1/8 scale figure (as if she was a real person) of sex kitten and ass-kickin’ ninja, Mao (meow!) “Beast Quarter,” is 8.5 in. tall and priced at $65.

The Mao figure is produced by Eye Scream, which specializes in high-quality collectible figures, usually of anime ladies who tend to wear outfits that show more panty than a Victoria’s Secret catalog.

For those who have not tried a bishojo (aka bishoujo) game, here is a clip from an article I wrote last year for my CiN Weekly column (and is no longer in the archive) that should help clear things up a bit:

As is printed on each box, these games are only for adults and contain sexually graphic anime, strong sexual content and, in some cases, violence. All the game characters are at least 18, regardless of how old they look to American eyes.

Despite that warning and a reputation as being animated porn, most bishoujo (pronounced bee-SHO-JOE) games are fairly complex dating simulation games.

They are essentially choose-your-own adventures where you read through scads of dialogue and, at key moments, select from a series of preset actions that determine how the story will progress.

You typically play as a heterosexual male who just happens to be continuously surrounded by bishoujo, or pretty girls. Most of the visuals, if not the entire game, consist of detailed 2-D art with Japanese voiceovers.

Having seen may of these types of figures in Japan, trust me when I tell you that they are amazing. OK, so they are peek-a-boo panty freaks but it doesn’t detract from the quality or craftmanship.
