Microsoft may soon announce a new way to purchase a Xbox 360 with Kinect. According to The Verge, Microsoft will begin selling the 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect for $99 at the Microsoft Store. Although $99 is a steal for those two items, Microsoft will make up for it by requiring customers to agree to monthly payments of $15 for two years.
Microsoft is reportedly handling this offer just like cell phone carriers do with their contract customers. If you break the terms of the contract, you’ll be subject to an early termination fee. The Verge didn’t specify how much the ETF will be. Also, Microsoft is supposed to throw in Xbox Live Gold and select video content as part of the deal.
By comparison, the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle currently sells for $300. Once you throw in two years of Xbox Live Gold at the normal price, the cost jumps to $420. This new deal Microsoft may offer will end up costing you around $460 over the course of two years.
