Gammick Entertainment S.L. today announced it is entering the gaming business as an international videogame producer.
According to its initial press release, Barcelona, Spain, based Gammick will produce PC and home console games as well as portable games (primarily) for the Nintendo DS. It already has a couple projects underway, including a real-time strategy (RTS) PC game titled Shadows of War developed by Legend Studios and expected to be available Q4 2007. Unfortunately, Shadows of War is set just before the Second World War, making it yet another WWIIesque game.
On a better note, Gammick also has an exclusive deal with Spanish game company Abylight and is already creating three Nintendo DS games, including Smasher Z to be released in 2008.
My favorite, and the most promising line, from Gammick’s press release is this:
The twin premises of fun and profitability underline the company’s commitment to produce titles that are easy to play, direct and immediately satisfying for the player and are a sure success for the publisher.
Maybe there is a bit of a translation issue here but, for me, “Gammick” sounds a bit too much like “gimmick” or, “game, ick,” neither of which are very positive (at least in English). Anyone know if “gammick” means something in another language?

So far the Gammick web site is just a logo.
