Alone in the Dark 2 movie cast announced

The cast list has been announced for Uwe Boll’s latest game-based movie masterpiece, including the talents of Rick Yune (Fast and the Furious, Die Another Day), Lance Hendriksen (Pumpkinhead, Aliens) and Ralf Moeller (Far Cry, Postal, Seed). The storyline will involve a band of witch hunters and their prey.

The film is set to begin shooting August 6, 2007, in New York and LA and is the follow-up to Boll’s own Alone in the Dark, loosely based on the original survival horror games. The director’s oeuvre of videogame inspired films also includes BloodRayne and House of the Dead, both of which are either hilariously bad or just plain awful. Interestingly, Boll himself is producing rather than directing this particular flick, due to his commitment shooting the Far Cry adaptation.

Boll’s films have an uncanny ability to feature decent actors (see BloodRayne’s use of Ben Kingsley for example) and still wind up as train wrecks, so don’t expect this group to fare any better. For those who enjoy Boll’s particular brand of lunacy, however, this straight to DVD release will probably be worth the wait.
