I’ve been contacting a few game companies to find out any news, information, favorite recipes, any friggin’ thing I can about their E3 announcements.
The hard part is that they all keep rather tight-lipped, reserving all announcements for the Expo, causing a chaotic cluster of information for everyone to pick through, interpret and digest.
Here’s an email I received from RedOctane (it was truly nice of them to even reply):
“We are going to be showing the newest installation of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero III, at E3. There will be a couple of surprises in the game, but nothing that I can share before the show. “
The bit of truly useful information in that email was that the game will, at least for now, be called Guitar Hero III. It’ll likely be just that plain but, just for fun, here are a few proposed names for the next installment of everyone’s favorite air guitar style game.
Guitar Hero III: Re-Return of the Pick of Destiny – A tribute game featuring Tenacious D tunes. You also get a free pick and can suddenly do three cockups.
Guitar Hero Third Rock From the Sun – I features whimsicle sci-fi themes as well as songs sung by John Lithgow.
Guitar Hero: Episode 3 Revenge of the Roadies – When no-talent lackies fight back, it’s good time mayhem at the state fair.
Guitar Hero The Third: When Fairy Tales Rocked – “Mary Had a Little Lamb” now has a whole new, AO rated meaning.
Guitar Hero 3000 – Robot tunes from the future make you say “01101000011001010110110001101100011 11001011001010110000101101000!”
Guitar Hero 3D: An Imax Experience – Slap on some 3D glasses and feel like you are in the game and like you can really play guitar.
Guitar Hero ’30s: When Ragtime Ruled – Gotta mix in the hits from every era possible.
Guitar Hero Three Times a Lady – 100% Lionel Ritchie songs. Hell-o yeah!
Guitar Hero 3 Inches: Rocking’ With Your Cock Out – There’s really only one way to really rock and be completely hardcore (no matter what all those spam emails tell you). This version comes with a special ring and a hand towel.
