Here’s a shocker. (Not really.) A game coming out within the next year is going to have DLC. (Yes, that’s a huge surprise.) The game in question is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the Platinum Games and Konami action title that turns series mainstay Raiden into a slicing cyborg of doom.
I know that this seems like a non-news news story, but I promise it has merit! The announcement that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will have DLC came out of a GameTrailers interview. What’s important about it is that the DLC will come post-release and might allow people to play as somebody other than Raiden. Suddenly, the DLC just got a lot more interesting, didn’t it? Kojima Productions’ Yuji Korekado broke the news about possibly offering extra characters, but didn’t say who the characters could be.
Korekado did mention another kind of DLC that could be released for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. We might get extra missions too. Which totally pales in comparison to getting an extra playable character, but I guess it’s cool in its own way.
What’s more interesting is to speculate about who the extra DLC character could be. I’m thinking there’s no way it could be Snake. He’s a stealth fighter and hardly suited for an attack-anything-that-moves-and-sometimes-stuff-that-doesn’t game like this. I’m going to be completely crazy and suggest that maybe Platinum Games will find some way to stick Bayonetta in this. That’s a totally plausible possibility, right?
