Product: Fang Gamepad by Ideazon Price: $34.99 Rating: 10 out of 10 Pros: Easy to use, compact design with 41 programmable buttons at your disposal makes it easier to control your game and more than 100 game configurations ready to use upon installation. Cons: I haven’t found anything wrong with this product. Overall: I would definitely recommend this product to all online gamers. If your tired of hunting and searching your keyboards for the right combination of keys just to get your character to move forward or even dance then this product is a must have.
There is nothing more aggravating than hunting and searching for the right buttons or keys to press while my character is getting the living crap beaten out of her waiting for me to respond. I have spent countless hours of my online gaming experience screaming at my keyboard after losing a fight with monsters because I forget which key performed the devastating move I’ve been working on and leveling up my characters to use since I started playing the game.
Being on a fixed budget, I don’t have the time or money to spend on huge fancy gaming boards with booklets to flip through. When I want to play. I want to play NOW! I don’t really care about pretty pictures or decorations on it, nor how the buttons light up when you push them. Heck, if it does have something extra it can do. Why not mow the yard or do dishes. I’d even invest in a gameboard with a button that sends an electrical volt to the neighbor’s kids so they’d shut up while I’m trying to sleep after a long day at work. At least it’d be something practical.
But as far as keyboards and gaming boards go. I want something simple, compact and easy to install and play as soon as I plug it in. And when Ideazon sent me the Fang Gamepad, it was like a dream come true. There was no need to pull my hair out waiting for the software to install or even log into their website to download the configurations of the game I want to play. It was all there.
Design – The Fang Gamepad comes with a wrist rest, a compact disc and one booklet to browse through. It’s dimensions of 6.0 x 7.6 x 0.9 inches (15.3 x 19.5 x 2.5 cm) makes it as small enough to fit anywhere on your desktop without having to rearrange it. It’s black with gray assignment buttons and red butterfly style movement buttons on the face of the pad and two action buttons on either side of the game pad making it easy to use for both right-handed and left-handed gamers. The pad also comes with a wrist rest that snaps into place on the bottom making it comfortable to use and on the top part of the device is a silver-colored bar at the top with a row of media buttons to operate any media players in the background without having to minimize your game to play a song on your media player. It has a lighted Z-Board logo on the top that also acts to let you know the game pad is functioning properly. It connects to your computer using any available USB port.
Features – I think one of the most prominent feature this game pad has to offer is that it comes pre-configured for more than 100 online games so there really isn’t a need to find plug-ins or download any configurations for it because the system is powered by Z-Engine technology the layout configurations are readily available upon installation including World of Warcraft to Counterstrike. If the game you wish to play is not among the configurations already available, Ideazon offers technical support to help you configure your programmable game pad. The butterfly keypad design makes it easy and less strenuous to use, putting everything literally at your fingertips. Each number button allows you to create hot keys functions for your game making it so easy that your fingers would never have to leave the game pad except to type a text message to your friends.
Performance – The time response between the game pad and the real time of the game was smooth and the reaction time between giving a command and seeing the results are instantaneous. Having the jump button on the side makes the game pad comfortable to lay your hands on, giving you longer game playing experiences than having to hover your hands over a regular keyboard.
Overall – Having a compact game pad versus replacing an entire game board makes it easier to recycle the pad for multiple games and doesn’t leave you with a game specific keyboard that would most likely get stored in the attack never to be seen again. The price is right for the game pad at $34.99 making it a must have for online gamers.
