One of Microsoft’s trump cards this season is the much hyped Mass Effect, which appeared relatively early on in the press conference on the 10th (July 2007). The game is an Xbox exclusive and will be released late Fall 2007. The trailer featured the typical epic cinematography and a wonderfully rich score as well as some familiar voice talent from the Halo franchise.
This game is basically Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic with a revamped combat engine and, of course, an original story line. The game features multi-character control, meaning that you control a party of three characters as they attempt to save the human race from extinction. In a fall lineup that has the human race on the verge of extinction in every other game (Halo 3, BioShock, Too Human just to name a few) this game has the potential to rise above the rest of the crowd with its in depth storyline and dialog systems that keep the game from being a pure blast-fest.
This game will definitely be worth a try this fall when your right hand seizes up from pulling the trigger in Halo 3.
