Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is going to be the new hotness when it’s released on January 22, 2013. I’ve played it at Namco Bandai’s Global Gamers Day event and E3 2012, and each time I see it, I love it more. Which is probably why Namco Bandai didn’t feel the need to go absolutely overboard with its Ni no Kuni pre-order incentives. Both have been announced and while they aren’t “must haves,” they are nice little extras.
The first thing you can get is the Steelbook case at the right that features Oliver and Drippy looking at the book of spells. It’s only available with GameStop pre-orders. I suppose it’s for the person who likes to display their games. You show-offs! On the plus side, with this your game will never super protected.
Amazon, on the other hand, has an incentive that is infinitely better by comparison. If you pre-order Ni no Kuni there, you get Griffy. Griffy is a new familiar for Oliver with Phantom Fang and Petrifying Puff attacks. It can eventually turn into a Griffurnace or Griffrigerator, depending on which you prefer. Griffy is especially neat because he is a true Amazon exclusive DLC creature. People in Japan didn’t even get him!
Of course, true Ni no Kuni fans will want to go through Namco Bandai’s online store. That’s where you can pre-order the limited, exclusive, Wizard’s Edition. It costs $99.99, but it gives you a hardcover version of the in-game Wizard’s Companion book, a stuffed Drippy and the Golden Drongo and Golden Mite DLC familiars for Oliver. It’s expensive, but it’s clearly the best way to go to show your love for the Level-5 and Studio Ghibli RPG.
