We spent a bit of time going over all the connection issues and various bugs that plagued The Simpsons: Tapped Out when it released earlier this year. If you’re new to this story, here’s the short version. The Simpsons: Tapped Out was so broken, EA pulled it from the Apple App Store in March. It still hasn’t returned. I was curious about whether this game still had a pulse, so I decided to look into it.
According to the various posts on the game’s official forums, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is working for some players as of this month. Everything apparently hasn’t been fixed because some forum posters are still complaining of disconnections, lost progress and other bugs. Fear not, EA is one the case (just as it has been for the past five months).
The last official update was made on August 1 regarding the “Missing Springfield” some were experiencing. EA advised players to make sure they’re signed into their Origin account before attempting to play. This is pretty much a “no duh” solution, but at least EA said something.
When I revisited my Springfield, I was welcomed back with 60 free donuts (a $5 value). At the same time, my Springfield had been completely rearranged. I also have a lot more unlocked land than I did when I stopped playing. As far as glitches go, I’m completely fine with this.
This is the biggest error I’ve ever experienced in this game. I always considered myself to be lucky since I never lost any progress or encountered game breaking bugs. Your experience may vary.
So if you’ve been wanting to check up on Springfield’s citizens, go ahead and boot up The Simpsons: Tapped Out one more time. You may find it to be a lot more stable now than when you left it.
