Ouya ends Kickstarter run with over $8.5 million and a new website

And so ends the most successful and widely publicized videogame Kickstarter since Double Fine Adventure. Ouya’s Kickstarter campaign wrapped up last night with $8,586,475 in pledges from backers. Ouya’s next steps involve getting units to developers and finalizing hardware before shipping all the Ouya consoles that have been pre-ordered in consumers in 2013.

The newest updates involving Ouya will be posted on its new website Ouya.tv. It’s a pretty bare site at the moment as it only includes the Kickstarter video, social media links, a newsletter submission box and a pre-order page.

Even though the Kickstarter is over, you can still buy Ouya for an expected April 2013 delivery date. Orders placed in the United States start at $109.99 for the console and one controller. The most expensive option is $199.99 for an Ouya console and four controllers. If you live outside the U.S., expect to add an additional $10 for every order.
