If you’re loving the look of Rayman Legends, then you better plan on getting yourself a Wii U. Ubisoft decided to bring the follow-up to Rayman Origins to GamesCom 2012 and made a really important announcement while it was there. Rayman Legends is going to be a Wii U exclusive when it launches around Christmas 2012.
This is probably due, in part, to the inclusion of Murfy. Murfy is a flying, green, buggy dude that follows the players throughout the levels. The GamePad holder controls him and he is the only one that can flip certain switches and use certain mechanisms. Murfy also allows the GamePad holder to get rid of obstacles.
Ubisoft also released a new GamesCom 2012 Rayman Legends trailer.
While Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive, it seems it’s only temporary exclusivity. Ubisoft said that it hasn’t completely ruled out ports to other platforms. Perhaps it wants to see how well Rayman Legends does or doesn’t do on the Wii U before commiting to other releases.
