Microsoft announces 40 Xbox games for Windows 8

Windows 8 will launch on October 26 with plenty of Xbox games at its side. Microsoft is fusing all of its properties in Windows 8, and the Xbox brand is poised to replace Games for Windows Live. Xbox games on Windows 8 will also include achievements, leaderboards and other features we’ve come to expect from Xbox Live.

Microsoft says 29 of the initial Xbox games for Windows 8 come from Microsoft Games Studio. All of the games on the list below won’t release at the same time. Some are launch day titles, and others will be released towards the end of 2012 and into 2013.

Some standout titles include Gunstringer: Dead Man Running, BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, Toy Soldiers Cold War, Jetpack Joyride and Hydro Thunder Hurricane. These games will be playable on all devices that run Windows 8 including desktops, laptops and tablets.
