Rock Band, the upcoming music title from Harmonix, MTV, and EA, was the talk of E3 2007. Coming soon for the 360, PS3, and (possibly) Wii, the title features the ability to play guitar (Guitar Hero style), sing, and play drums. Each part of a song can be played solo or with other members of your “band”, and every instrument has it’s own nifty peripheral. The interface is very similar to the aforementioned GH for the guitar and drum sections, with the singing represented by horizontal scrolling notes.

Throughout E3, journalists couldn’t stop talking about how Rock Band is set to dethrone its spiritual successor, Guitar Hero (the first two incarnations of which were developed by Harmonix, adding to the drama), with it’s potentially massive song list and increased instrument options. The Microsoft press conference even began with a rousing display of the game, played by none other than Peter Moore.

One of the biggest unknowns about the title after E3 2007 is the price point. It’s unclear what bundles (if any) will be available for gamers wanting to put together a full band, or those who want to focus on just one instrument.
