Another Tetris-like puzzler is headed to your PC from the folks over at FreshGames, developers of the casual hit Cubis. ZenGems chronicles the adventures of young Hoshiko as he searches for Medallions of Virtue in a desperate attempt to save his grandfather’s temple.
The screenshots make it look like the game will require you to drop colored balls down onto a pre-set puzzle formation, described as a combination of Astro Pop and Bejeweled with painted background. Certain patterns eliminate portions of the puzzle and score you points. The game doesn’t look like it contains any earth shattering awesomeness but it will probably be a nice way to burn some time while you’re waiting for something to download on your computer.
Games like ZenGems are another indication that casual gaming is still on the rise. These are the kinds of games that your mom or your grandmother can get into, although I admit I’ve spent quite a bit of time playing games like these from Xbox Live Arcade. ZenGems looks like they took Zuma and GemQuest and smashed them together. Those clever bastards.
