Realtime Worlds brings back Project MyWorld team
Well, some of them.
During the past week we have heard all about Scottish developer Realtime Worlds’ issues with administration (“administration” is the UK version of filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection).
The reason for administration is pretty obvious: The critical and commercial panning of All Points Bulletin.
BioWare officially announces Dragon Age 2
After a great deal of teasing and rumors, BioWare has finally let the cat out of the bag. Dragon Age 2 is drawing ever closer and looks to be coming in 2011. This should come to no surprise, of course, as there have been a number of little details pointing to that being the case.
General consensus was that the head honchos at Electronic Arts and BioWare weren’t going to let such a massive world — with so much left to do and see — go without the sequel treatment for long. When the Awakening expansion pack came out, it included a little card with a blood dragon on it that hinted at 02.01.2011 (February 2, 2011). It was all but certain, considering they’d also confirmed that there would be a new Dragon Age title of some kind just a month prior.
Epic Mickey’s Scrapper Mickey scrapped due to focus testing
Warren Spector has been working on Epic Mickey, coming to the Nintendo Wii, for some time now and has constantly been quoted as stating that he wants to shake things up and reference oft-forgotten material.
The entire game is meant to be steeped in Mickey Mouse lore from the very depths of the Disney vault.
The thing is, everyone’s favorite cartoon mouse has not always been a pillar of virtue.
Microsoft’s Milo will not make it to market for Christmas 2010 (updated)
UPDATE: It looks like Kotaku has received official word that Aaron Greenberg simply didn’t finish his sentence. Oops. Milo is still very much alive and well and should be coming next year. The original post, prior to this update, can be read below.
One of the absolute biggest games of E3 2009, hands down, was from Lionhead Studios and it was all about the life of a small boy: Milo. Kinect was still Natal and people were incredibly wary of just what the technological wonder could do. Milo, an interactive simulation of a boy, attempted to bridge that gap and make believers out of them.
Milo was and assumedly still is a program that was designed specifically for Kinect that allowed the player to interact with a simulated boy as he went about his daily life. The player would respond to Milo and Milo would respond back, supposedly unscripted.
PAX Prime reveals musical lineup
The future has become a little bit brighter now that those fine people behind Penny Arcade Expo have revealed the selection of musical talent that will be playing in concert come September 3 and 4. 2010. There’s something about going to a concert with tons of gamers and listening to gaming/nerd-themed music that’s strangely appealing. Assuming they change their shirts. And bathe.
But even if the stereotype is in attendance, it should still make for a rousing good time since the following acts will be present…
E3 2010: Hands-on with Jumpgate Evolution
The biggest problem with Jumpgate Evolution isn’t that it almost directly competes with EVE Online. Instead, the title’s problems stem from being in development for so long. There are times where this writer was doubtful he would ever see it completed. Seeing it at E3 2009 was like a breath of fresh air but even more »
E3 2010: Hands-on with Twisted Metal
Yes, yes, David Jaffe is a liar. Having said that, the newest Twisted Metal makes me want to forgive him regardless of what he may have done or said in the past. He may have misled a number of people with his comments about, y’know, not making a new Twisted Metal and not even being more »
E3 2010: Hands-on with Hydrophobia
Hydrophobia from Dark Energy just might be this year’s Shadow Complex. No, it doesn’t have backing from Orson Scott Card and there hasn’t been a great deal of critical attention paid to it, but it feels more like a sleeper hit each and every time I play it. Even with some buggy instances of slipping more »
E3 2010: Hands-on with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep has been a long-awaited title for Kingdom Hearts enthusiasts with PSPs and it looks as if they will not be let down. I was able to give the game a go at the Square Enix booth and only have good things to say about it. As someone without a PSP, more »
E3 2010: Hands-on with Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer
Killing your friends has never been more fun! Well, okay, maybe that’d be an inappropriate tagline but the thought certainly went through my head as I had a chance to check out the new Wanted multiplayer mode in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. In my short demo of Wanted mode, I was tasked with eliminating a fellow more »
