Wii Rescue: Rune Factory Tides of Destiny
Wii owners are feeling a little hurt these days, what with Nintendo basically turning them back on them until the Wii U rolls around. No Xenoblade? No Last Story? No Pandora’s Tower? Don’t storm off in a huff; dig around to see what Wii games are coming out this year. A decent place to begin your search is at Natsume’s Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny.
Opinion: Microsoft should have announced Xbox handheld game system at E3 2011
At E3 2011, Microsoft announced different partnerships that are going to be popping up, starting with Youtube. The Youtube partnership will hopefully lead to some rather interesting functionality rather than just playing Youtube videos.
Still, there seemed to have been something missing.
Rumor: New PS3 revision coming, new copy protection along with BD-J for BD-3D
Developers were recently notified that a new revision of the PlayStation 3 is in the testing process that will feature a new copy protection system not on the motherboard but inside the BD-ROM drive itself, similar to the Xbox 360.
E3 2011: DMC Devil May Cry details, trailer
A new trailer for DMC: Devil May Cry game was revealed at E3 2011. To say the least it looks interesting. It’s been a while since the last time we saw anything about the game, the last time being the Tokyo Game Show. Both the Tokyo Game Show and E3 trailers are below.
The core gameplay seems to have completely returned in a rather big way, since the later Devil May Cry games tried adding in things that detracted from the addictive nature of the game. This is especially true in terms of combat.
E3 2011: Play like a demigod in Asura’s Wrath
Asura’s Wrath is an anime-inspired action game that blends Hindu mythology, science fiction and quick time events.
Capcom and developer CyberConnect 2, perhaps best known for its work on .hack and Naruto-based fighting games, are putting this one together. Asura is a god who is often very angry, even more so after he is stripped of his god-like powers (maybe not all of them because he is kicking serious butt in all the game footage). Then somebody goes and kidnaps Asura’s daughter, causing much anime-stylized violence to ensue.
E3 2011: Inteview with Gears of War 3 executive producer Rod Fergusson (video)
Fergusson answered numerous questions regarding the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise and even showed off the exclusive upcoming GOW-branded Xbox 360 designed at Epic Games. The console will come equipped with a 250GB HDD and Gears of War sounds with the opening and closing of the tray. In addition, the console will retail at $399 and is set for a September 20, 2011, release alongside Gears 3.
E3 2011: Mortal Kombat players achieve new Guiness World Record during expo
You’ll have to forgive four tired gamers from the CraveOnline team if the phrase “Finish Him!” inspires fits of convulsions and audible weeping. They broke the Guinness World Record for fighting games with a 32-hour Mortal Kombat marathon.
Cristopher Bryant, Paul Chillino, Melissa Estuesta and Lance Moose took on the carpal tunnel-inducing task during E3 2011. Observers were able to cheer them on and even play alongside them for as long as they could stand to do so.
E3 2011: PDP belatedly reveals its product lineup
I know E3 2011 was so one week ago, but a belated product lineup announcement has just come out that gamers may be interested in. PDP, known for various peripherals, both standard and themed, decided to tell people what it had at E3 last week. That way, they’ll know what to look forward to in stores over the next year.
First, the Afterglow product line is expanding with one new controller and some headsets…
E3 2011: Sonic Generations details
Sonic spun his way into the heart of E3 2011 with a brand new game to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th Anniversary.
Sonic’s universe is thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power creates ‘time holes’ which pull him and his friends back through time. Because of this, Sonic will witness events from the past as well as the future. So basically past Sonic and present Sonic must team up and save their universe and figure out who is behind all this.
E3 2011: Street Fighter X Tekken footage
Here’s a video of some Street Fighter X Tekken action for all of you fighting junkies out there. Please note that this game really has nothing to do with Tekken with the exception of the series’ characters and story lines. I overhead a few E3 attendees discussing SFXT before the event wondering how anyone could even pull off merging two such completely different fighting systems. The gameplay in SFXT is based entirely in the Street Fighter world with a seamless transition of the Tekken characters’ moves and combos.
