PS3 only does everything, even Kinect

Shantanu Goel may be the hero for PS3 fanboys and fangirls right now. He’s managed to create a bridge between consoles. You don’t just need an Xbox 360 for Kinect now, because if you’re tech-savvy enough, you can use it with your PS3. I guess you didn’t need to buy Move after all.

Goel is the creator of a new Kinect hack. It uses various programs together, like the DIYPS3Controller DualShock 3 emulator, PrimeSense Libraries for Kinect, NITE Libraries and OpenNI Libraries to allow people to use a computer as sort of a conduit to allow the PS3 to recognize and successfully use the Kinect.

Thinkgeek carrying Minecraft magnets

Those Kongscut Minecraft magnets on Etsy started something. What was once an indie product by a devoted fan has spawned an official version! This means you can get official, real Minecraft magnets at Thinkgeek now too!

Supremacy will be first mixed martial arts game to feature female fighters

Women have earned a lot of accolades and attention in mixed martial arts. So far, though, the most notable videogame appearance is Gina Carano’s role in the notoriously campy Command and Conquer series cutscenes as an assassin.

That will change when Supremacy MMA hits shelves in June 2011 as Felice “Lil Dog” Herrig and Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez will both appear in the Kung Fu Factory title. It’s interesting that while both EA and THQ’s titles try to deliver a realistic experience, it’s a more arcade title that includes female fighters.

Blizzard sends World of StarCraft modder cease and desist notice

Yesterday (January 18, 2011) I wrote about a group of modders who are creating an MMO called World of StarCraft using tools from the StarCraft II editor. Well, Blizzard is apparently not too happy with this little project and has decided to shut it down.

World of Starcraft in the works….er, sorta

No, it’s not April Fools’ Day yet. That is a screenshot you see of the long-awaited MMO World of StarCraft, which is meant to take place in the StarCraft universe. Oh, but there’s still a catch, see. This game is not made by Blizzard. Rather, it’s designed by a group of loyal fans.

Minecraft magnets are magnificent

A novelty has appeared on the internet that would be just perfect for Minecraft fanatics – magnets. Not just any magnets – magnets that resemble the blocks and materials used for building in Minecraft. Think about that and absorb the genius of it. You can use said magnets to recreate your Minecraft empire on a smaller, flatter scale…
