PAX Prime 2011: Gearbox panel attendees get Borderlands 2, Borderlands gets Steamworks

Well, we now have another reason to be jealous of all those PAX Prime 2011 attendees. The first, of course, was that they got free OnLive Micro Console adapters just for making a free OnLive account and visiting the booth. Now, we’re hearing that certain attendees got free copies of Borderlands 2 from Gearbox Software. Oh, and the Steam version of the original Borderlands is getting an update too…

The Penny Arcade Adventures franchise is not dead. Although the third game in the series was initially cancelled, it will see the light of day in 2012. Hothead Games however will not be heading up development. That task has been handed off to Zeboyd Games.

PAX Prime 2011: Sonic CD can be downloaded on almost every platform later this year

Have you missed Sonic CD? Don’t answer that, the answer doesn’t matter. Sega’s already decided that it is going to port it to practically every available platform later this year and rerelease it as a downloadable game, They didn’t even consult you! Which is okay, I guess, since Sonic CD was a pretty awesome game. The announcement was made today, as Sega plans to show off the Sonic CD ports at PAX Prime 2011 this weekend…

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown set for 2012, playable at PAX Prime 2011

It’s been a while since we’d heard anything about any new Virtua Fighter games, but that’s about to change now. Sega’s actually going to be releasing a new entry in the series. Well, new isn’t exactly the right word for it. Revised is. Virtua Fighter 5 is going to be rehauled and rereleased as Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Yes, if you want to play this game in 2012, you’ll have to download it.

The fundamentals will be the same, with the same hand-to-hand fighting as all the other entries. Aside from that, everything else will be adjusted…

PAX Prime 2011: Stopping by Nintendo’s booth may make you want a 3DS

At this point, it’d probably be easier to do one news story about all the companies that aren’t going to be attending the August 26-28, 2011 PAX Prime 2011 convention, but then that might not be as helpful for people who are actually going. As you can probably guess, Nintendo’s going to be there and, while Wii and DS games will be shown, the main focus of booth 462 and the Nintendo Gaming Lounge will be to get people excited about the 3DS. And, with the things Nintendo has planned, that could work.

The Gaming Lounge, for example, will be a two floor area with different floors focusing on different games…

PAX Prime 2011: Capcom’s lineup features 9 major games

Don’t worry though, you can be there in spirit. Capcom’s going to have a PAX 2011 livestream…

Atlus is among them and, if you’re a part of the Atlus Faithful email newsletter listing, you probably received their note reminding everyone they’ll be there.

There are only three games that will be at booth #682 from Atlus, but they’re interesting ones…
